{"id":193008,"date":"2024-07-29T20:46:29","date_gmt":"2024-07-29T20:46:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/avozdocerrado.com\/?p=193008"},"modified":"2024-07-29T20:46:29","modified_gmt":"2024-07-29T20:46:29","slug":"without-evidence-the-opposition-talks-about-electoral-fraud-and-refuses-to-recognize-defeat-in-venezuela","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/avozdocerrado.com\/?p=193008","title":{"rendered":"Without evidence, the opposition talks about electoral fraud and refuses to recognize defeat in Venezuela"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brasil de Fato<\/p>\n<p>After the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brasildefato.com.br\/2024\/07\/29\/maduro-celebra-vitoria-e-responde-oposicao-que-respeitem-a-decisao-de-28-de-julho\"> announcement of Nicol\u00e1s Maduro\u2019s victory with 51.2% of the votes<\/a>, according to Venezuela\u2019s Consejo Nacional Electoral (CNE, in Spanish), the opposition leader Mar\u00eda Corina Machado refused to recognize the defeat of the presidential candidate she supported, Edmundo Gonz\u00e1lez Urrutia, in the Sunday (28) elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe won, and everybody knows that,\u201d said Machado at a press conference. \u201cWe want to say to the whole of Venezuela and the world that Venezuela has a newly elected president, and he is called Edmundo Gonz\u00e1lez Urrutia,\u201d she said, contradicting the results of the ballots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGonz\u00e1lez Urrutia had 70% of the votes; Nicol\u00e1s Maduro, 30%. That\u2019s the truth. Congratulations, Edmundo,\u201d said Machado, accompanied by the opposition candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Without evidence, the opposition states that some electoral records weren\u2019t transmitted to the CNE.<\/p>\n<p>The president of the electoral council, Elvis Amoroso, had announced shortly beforehand that Maduro had been reelected with 5.15 million votes (51.2%) against Gonz\u00e1lez Urrutia, with 4.45 million (44.2%), according to the first official bulletin when 80% of the votes had already been counted.<\/p>\n<p>Amoroso assured that the aforementioned bulletin reflects a \u201cconclusive and irreversible\u201d trend and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brasildefato.com.br\/2024\/07\/29\/venezuela-denuncia-tentativa-de-interferencia-nas-eleicoes-de-outros-paises\">denounced an \u201cattack on the data transmission system that delayed\u201d<\/a> the voting count.<\/p>\n<p>Gonz\u00e1lez Urrutia, on the other hand, said that the electoral process \u201cviolated all voting rules\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur message of reconciliation and peace remains valid. Our struggle continues. We will not rest until the will of the Venezuelan people is reflected [in the presidential election],\u201d he insisted. Machado also addressed the military. \u201cThe National Armed Forces must ensure that popular sovereignty is respected. That\u2019s what we expect,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe won\u2019t accept the idea that defending the truth is violence.
